What research says

The Oreck XL air purification tower is a stylish unit and I like that you get five yearly tune-ups for free. However, judging by the complaints on the link to the left, people have had some real issues with this particular air purifier. Not only that, but the price tag is hundreds higher than the other two options. Usually there is a Buy-one-get-one-half-off deal with the Orecks, which makes it a little more affordable if you are buying two air purifiers. However, even then it is still twice as much as many other brands.

The Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers from Sharper Image are sleek and quiet as a mouse. But they produce Ozone, which is a known irritant for people with asthma and lung diseases. However, the GP model comes with something called "OzoneGuard" that is supposed to change the Ozone back into Oxygen before the air leaves the unit. For some reason though, the idea of having an air purifier in my house that produces even "trace levels of Ozone by-product" doesn't sit well with me. Besides, the online reviews for this are terrible. As one popular product opinion site put it: "Great for consumers that want to silently and stylishly 'pretend' they are cleaning their air, but don't actually need an air cleaner." Of course, opinions are just opinions so we would advise you to go ahead and try it for yourself except this is the only brand out of all three air purifiers that doesn't offer a free trial period or money-back guarantee.

In the end we went with the lesser-known Nano o2 Air Purification systems because they seemed to be the best air purifiers in terms of cost-effectiveness, and quality. They are powerful units as well, able to purify at least twice the area of the other to brands. With generally possitive online reviews, a free 30-day trial, and the $30-off promotional offer - $259 just makes this the best air purifier for the value.

Everything I have ever purchased from Sharper Image has been complete crap! It's like Radio Shack for rich people, but the quality isn't any better. Might as well save some money and go to Radio Shack if you're in the market for shoddy gadgets.

The Nano is a quality product at a great price, and it does an excellent job. We have a lot of cats at home and I Had no idea how bad our house smelt until the small was gone!
