What research says

The online user reviews that we found show that both of these units rank high in the general satisfaction category and certainly both of these brands are well known. Weedater is so ubiquitous that it's brand name (weed eater) is used to describe other brands of weed trimmers. The gas-powered model is the Weedeater XT260, this company has been the landscaping business for so long that their expertise is almost always translated as a great product. This unit uses a quiet 25cc engine but be aware that engine's location is at the very top of the trimmer.

On the quieter side of professional is Black & Decker's Grasshog, an electric (and considerably less noisy) lawn trimmer. This unit has a good build quality, is well balanced and light. The starting is effortless since the unit is electric and this green product has and automatic feeding spool to adjust line length when needed, by itself.

For residential use the Black & Decker is a great unit, but for landscapers and garden professionals gas-powered units may still be more convenient than have to wait for charging, especially if you already own gas-powered tools.

I just purchased the Poulan XT260 and was very disappointed. Followed manual directions. Found it difficult to start, if it starts at all. It stalled frequently, so I spent more time restarting than actually trimming the grass. It struggled in thin grass, and stalled in slightly thick areas. What a waste of money.
