What research says The FoodSaver SmartSeal upright vacuum sealer is our first comparsion. The SmartSeal's most prominent feature is the exclusive SmartSeal technology in which the vacuum-sealing appliance automatically senses the bag and food type and creates a perfect air-tight seal. It also comes equipped with 2 vacuum speeds and the vacuum and seal options. Automatic liquid detection, built-in roll storage and cutter, a crush-free insant seal, and a one year warranty make this vacuum sealer even more impressive.
Next on our review is the SousVide Supreme vacuum sealer which features a compact, light weight and easy-to-use design that is about the size of a large tissue box. The SousVide features two settings; a quick seal function for liquids and marinades or the vacuum seal which pulls all the air out of the bag for fresh foods. To be honest this was all the information available for this sealer and since I haven't personally used it I checked out some other reviews on the net and some users suggest this appliance doesn't have the best track record in sealing properly. But, there are always a few bad reviews for even the best products, so we'd love to hear comments from anyone who has used this vacuum sealer. Last up is the Deni Magic Vac. Like the SousVide, this vacuum sealer offers both vacuum and sealing operations but goes further by offering an override seal function for delicate foods and an extra seal when using thicker vaccum seal bags. Another plus of the Deni is the addition of a hose port for vacuum sealing canisters. Though most people think of vacuum sealers as preserving only food, Deni points out you can also use it to seal pictures in an air tight bag, prevent silver from tarnishing, and seal camping or boating supplies that need to stay dry. You get what you pay for in vacuum sealers. I have personally used many and have found out most sealers under $100 don't perform very well and the sealing mechanism always seems to loose its steam after a few seasons. That's why it's good to look at the higher end vacuum sealers; They are more reliable, last longer and often have a better warranty. The Editor's pick today is the FoodSaver T000-08004 V3460 SmartSeal, with a close second going to the Deni (nice price for the features). The FoodSaver brand was one of the first to break into the vacuum sealer market. Being first isn't always best, but FoodSaver is always on the leading edge and produces really usable features in its appliances. So, don't delay, this model is one of the best options out there right now in this price range.
Bob said:I know about cheap vacuum sealers. I have a $60 Black and Decker sealer and it doesn't perform well and doesn't see the bags properly. I've had to throw out some of my meat because of freezer burn. Bunker said:I have the FooSaver vacuum sealer and am very happy with it. Just make sure you buy the rolls of plastic wrapping rather than individual bags, which can get expensive. Other Resources and Reviews |
