What research says

All the washers we compare here are front load, 4.0 cu. ft. (extra large capacity) and all priced at below $800. Starting with GE, who enters with a set of very powerful an innovative features such as PerfectTemp, which keeps the wash cycle water at a consistent temperature so that, for example, a load of hot water clothes stays hot during the entire wash cycle. GE continues with other impressive features showing that they have been in this business for quite some time.

Next up is the legendary Maytag, a company renowned for its reliability, we find a strong feature set and great design. Following GE's example of innovation, Maytag also features temperature controls that remain consistent, and even has a built-in 1000-watt heater to do the job. The laundry list of features for the Maytag is long, and current owners seem to love the machines.

Last in the line up is LG. While all of the front load washers we compare here have some great features, LG adds some family friendly options. One such option is the child lock, another is have multiple "soil" levels to help you properly clean fabrics of a certain type with certain types of stains.

Consider that all of the front load washers we compare here have companion dryers, matched in design and more. Brand loyalty plays a big role here since all of these front load washers are so very similar.

I'm surprised you don't mention Kenmore. Sears is always great to work with and their customer service is unbeatable. But, Maytag is also a good brand...I think their old tv commercials said it all.

I have a GE top-load washing machine right now that's broken down for the second time this year. Are front-loading washers any more reliable or energy efficient?

Linda said:

Does anyone know of a front load washer that gives the option of a higher water level?
