What research says

It was tough to limit this review to only three coupon websites, but we wanted to show the best of the best. Therefore, all three of these sites are top of the line. However, we did find that one stood out as a little more user-friendly.

Coupon Cabin has been around for years, and keeps a huge inventory of active coupons. They also claim over 1,000 exclusive coupons. However, after looking at the exclusive offers, we didn't find many that were any better than the other offers. And who cares if a coupon is exclusive if it's not a bigger discount? Coupon Cabin was also too busy for our tastes. We were hoping to just see coupons once we got to a coupon page, but were overwhelmed by all of the other items, including sales, price comparisons, user reviews, staff picks, email signups, the Coupon Club... And tabs like the one for auctions (what in the world is that for?) and price comparisons seem to be getting a little off-topic. This could just be personal preference, but if I'm looking to compare prices I'll go to a price comparison site. If I want to read reviews, I'll hit a user-generated review site, or something like Compare The Brands. If I want coupons, then I want coupons - not all of the other stuff.

RetailMeNot was much easier to use and navigate. It is a very slick site and probably one of the best known coupon websites out there today. One thing we found upsetting was the quantity of expired coupons. What purpose do these serve, other than to get people to click on them so the cookie gets set and RTMN gets commission on a sale - even if the coupon didn't work. Here's a tip from a consumer to any and all coupon websites: Remove your expired coupons. We don't care about them and we don't want to see them. Also, between the tag cloud, the social media widgets, newsletter signups, stats and polls... the site is still really busy, even though they do a better job of working it all in than Coupon Cabin.

Coupon Sherpa tops the list as the best coupon website mostly due to its cleanliness. If I'm looking for a discount, I just want to see discounts - not your facebook posts, your tweets or any of that other stuff. Coupon Sherpa gives all of the features that we want in a coupon website without all of the clutter. However, that is just personal preference. Maybe my nephew or niece would think otherwise since they seem to LIVE on facebook and Twitter. They do have an iPhone app, which comes in very handy at the store, but it isn't plastered all over every page.

One thing I would like to see on Coupon Sherpa though are user reviews.

And Coupon Sherpa didn't seem to have as many stores or coupons as the other two websites. I typically shop the big stores, all of which were well represented on Coupon Sherpa, but RetailMeNot and CouponCabin did seem to have a greater diversity of lesser-known stores and coupons. Then again, if you take away all of the expired coupons on RetailMeNot it might look a little less full.

Aside from the ease-of-use, we also found the Manufacturers Coupons page to be unique. Sometimes you don't care where you buy something, but you know what brand you want to buy. Like the other two competitors, they also had a huge list of grocery and printable coupons that we can use at local stores.

These three are the best coupon websites we found, and each of them are going to offer you similar savings. It really boils down to features and what you're looking for in a coupon site. I don't like to spend hours and hours window shopping. I know what I want, and my goal is to just find a fast, easy way to get it cheaper. But some people might want to join a community of shoppers (they should go to RetailMeNot) and some might actually like a busy-looking website (they should go to Coupon Cabin). We all have different needs.

But these are the only three coupon websites out there. Some honorable mentions include: Cool Savings, Groupons, Coupon Mom and FreeShipping.org.
