What research says Be aware that all of the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone services in this review and comparison have disclaimers on their websites in regard to potential interruptions on emergency phone calls. This is something to consider before choosing a VoIP provider as your only phone service.
With all VoIP solutions, a high speed (cable or better) is recommended. We found the ITP website to be brief but with a short help section. One review mentioned that the site hadn't been updated in quite some time and it appears that way. While the price benefit seems fair we have to look to our other competitors for a winner. Vonage has been the most recognizable name in the VoIP market for years, partly through an aggressive marketing plan and great service. Their website provides near limitless support and they are available 24/7 to answer your questions. While you do become obligated to a one-year contract it certainly appears that Vonage has a lot to offer. Phone.com offers a number of great comparable options and a free adapter with unlimited minutes. If you're not looking to do too much international calling then they clearly appear to be the best bargain out there. Most companies including this one show that they require a year-long contract. With technology backed by a 13 year old networking and programming company Phone.com wins our Editor's pick in this review of VoIP service comparisons.
Ray said:As of April 4th 2010, I have had Vonage service for 4+ year. No complaints, except that they can bring down the price a little to be more competitive. In Jan 2010 I changed to the world plan that allows unlimited international calling to certain countries (not a promotion and no contracts). I love this plan, since for almost the same rate I was paying earlier ($30) I am now getting unlimited international calling. I currently pay about #33 a month - No contracts when I changed plans. There was a free VOIP phone (Uniden Base + 3 cordless handsets) promotion around December 2009, I got this too - for FREE. The VOIP adapter was free too. Other Resources and Reviews |
