The Royal VF1012mx 12-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder claims to be a medium duty shredder. Howeve,r the teeth are made of plastic and it has trouble shredding more than a few sheets at a time without jamming and breaking some teeth.

The Fellowes Powershred P-40 8-Sheet Personal Shredder works very well, doesn't jam and is a light duty shredder. It can handle what it claims to and you don't need to separate the plastics from the papers.
