What research says

The Accurian 7" Widescreen Portable DVD Player seems to not be consistent quality. Some of these worked fine even though volume was low. Others stopped working just after warranty expired with screens going black, discs skipping and batteries not recharging.

The Axion 7" Widescreen Portable DVD Player had problem working. It often failed to read discs, and skipped and the batteries did not work long or hold a new charge.

The Philips DCP750/37 7" Swivel Screen Portable DVD Player works very well with no problems. The only thing is that it only takes the 30gb iPod and not the 80gb iPod.

The Sony DVP-FSX810 8" Portable DVD Player worked well and played great DVDs. The sound could stand a little improving but overall a very good product.

DVD players even though they may be the exact same model can be very different in quality from box to box with a lot of companies. The Sony and the Philips seemed to work the best and show more consistency in their product.

I bought the Phillips swivel screen DVD player for my kids to watch, but I ended up just using it for myself. It really comes in handy when you've seen all of the movies on the flight!
